IG Tunji Disu Honors Fallen Police Officers in Abuja

On Monday in Abuja, the Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu, held a memorial parade to honor 10 officers of the Nigeria Police Special Intervention Squad (SIS) who were killed by suspected bandits in Kebbi on August 10. During a confrontation, the officers intercepted a heavily armed group of bandits moving towards Zamfara, resulting in the deaths of 10 officers and injuries to two others, along with the loss of two civilian lives.

Disu stated that the officers displayed courage and determination, successfully neutralizing at least 17 bandits and destroying four motorcycles belonging to the attackers. He emphasized the sacrifice of the fallen officers and assured their families of the Nigeria Police Force's support.

Disu reiterated the force's commitment to combating banditry and other forms of criminality, stating, “We shall not be intimidated” and urged Nigerians to remember the sacrifices made by police officers in the line of duty.
