Premier League Clubs Approve EFL Funding Proposal

The Premier League has announced that its 20 clubs have unanimously voted to approve a proposal for a new strategic partnership with the English Football League (EFL), which will be presented to EFL members for a vote in the coming days. Although no official figure has been confirmed, Sky News reported the deal could be valued at £1.5 billion over a duration of ten years.

The Premier League stated that the proposal is fully funded and is expected to be financed through a transfer levy. The Premier League has committed to investing a record £1.6 billion every three years into the wider football community.

The funding dispute has been ongoing since 2021, following various crises in the sport, including the failed European Super League and the collapse of Bury FC. Recent discussions involving representatives from the Premier League, EFL, and the Independent Regulator have been described as constructive, with the EFL Board set to review the proposal's details and implications for its 72 clubs.
