Atiku Abubakar Demands Transparency in PFIPC Scandal

Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), accused the Nigerian Presidency of trying to exonerate itself regarding the alleged fake Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC) scandal. He stated that the Presidency could not use the interim report from the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) as evidence of innocence, as the report highlighted negligence and possible collusion among public officers that allowed the fraudulent agency to operate.

Atiku emphasized that the allegations involved more than one individual, citing the forgery of a presidential appointment letter and the establishment of a fictitious federal agency. He demanded the identities of implicated officials be disclosed and called for the full publication of the ICPC report.

Furthermore, he urged the National Assembly to conduct a transparent investigation, suggesting that live coverage of the proceedings would enhance public trust. Atiku warned that a lack of transparency could lead to suspicions of protection for powerful individuals involved.
