Presidential Working Group Extends Policing Bill Deadline

The Chairman of the Presidential Working Group on the National Policing Bill, Femi Gbajabiamila, who is also the Chief of Staff to the President, announced on Thursday in Abuja that the submission deadline for public contributions has been extended. This extension aims to allow more stakeholders to participate in the legislative process.

Gbajabiamila emphasized that the inputs received are crucial for creating a robust legislative framework that addresses Nigeria's current policing and internal security needs. He encouraged institutions, organizations, professionals, and the public to submit their memoranda before the new deadline.

The Working Group is now focusing on drafting the Bill while reviewing the contributions received. The Policy Advisory Committee, chaired by Justice Mohammed Abdullahi Liman, has completed its initial oversight phase, providing necessary policy direction for the drafting process.

Legal drafters from the Federal Ministry of Justice have begun their work in line with the approved timetable.
