APC Faces Petitions Ahead of INEC Portal Opening

The All Progressives Congress (APC) is currently battling several petitions concerning its primaries, with only four days remaining before the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) portal opens on June 26 for political parties to upload candidate names for the 2027 general elections. Although the APC concluded its primaries on May 30, it has yet to release a final list of candidates, creating uncertainty among aspirants, especially for governorship and state assembly positions.

Reports indicate that nearly all state primaries have faced petitions, with the party's National Working Committee (NWC) tasked with addressing these grievances. In Zamfara State, seven court cases challenge the outcomes of the APC primaries, including those involving the party's governorship candidate Dauda Lawal and senatorial candidates.

Other states, such as Kogi and Gombe, also have petitions filed against the primaries, alleging irregularities. The APC's leadership is under pressure to resolve these issues before the INEC deadline.
