Rep Jeremiah Umaru Resigns from APC Over Credibility Issues

Jeremiah Umaru, the member representing Akwanga/Nasarawa Eggon/Wamba Federal Constituency, announced his resignation from the All Progressives Congress (APC) in a letter addressed to the APC chairman of Gitta Ward in Wamba Local Government Area, Nasarawa State, dated May 28, 2026. Umaru expressed disillusionment with the conduct of the party's recent primary elections, stating that it significantly weakened confidence in the party's commitment to credible and inclusive democratic practices.

He described a gradual erosion of values such as fairness, transparency, and justice within the party, which he believed were foundational to its growth. Despite his departure, Umaru expressed gratitude to party members and leaders for the opportunities he had during his tenure.

His resignation adds to a growing list of political realignments in Nasarawa State following the conclusion of the party primaries ahead of the 2027 general elections.
