Osun Lawmakers Urge EFCC to Probe Ghost Workers Scandal

Lawmakers from Osun State have called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to investigate allegations of 15,000 ghost workers within the state payroll. This request follows a joint statement signed on Friday by representatives from various constituencies, including Obokun and Ijesa South.

The audit, conducted by Salli Tibbot Consult, uncovered financial irregularities and indicated a lack of transparency in handling public funds. The audit report, covering transactions from January 2023 to June 2024, raised serious concerns about the integrity of state officials, including Governor Ademola Adeleke and his chief of staff, Dr.

Deji Adeleke. Lawmakers described the findings as alarming and indicative of monumental corruption and financial mismanagement.

They also referenced leaked audio suggesting attempts to intimidate auditors. In light of these developments, the lawmakers have urged immediate investigations by the EFCC and ICPC into the alleged ghost worker fraud.
