CSOs Demand Independent Review of Osun Staff Audit

Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), particularly the Congress Progress Youth Initiative (COPI), have raised serious concerns regarding the recent staff audit conducted in Osun State. Hon.

Ibrahim Aderinto, the Director General of COPI, highlighted public outcry over allegations of financial misconduct, including the manipulation of salary schemes affecting approximately 5,000 workers monthly. The group is calling for an urgent clarification and an independent review of the controversial audit report.

They have suggested enlisting reputable international accounting firms such as KPMG, PwC, and Deloitte to conduct a thorough investigation and restart the staff audit process entirely. The CSOs also expressed apprehension regarding the perceived inequitable distribution of state resources and criticized the government's claims of political motivations behind the outcry, which they believe undermine the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke, especially with upcoming elections.

They urged relevant anti-corruption agencies to hold parties accountable and ensure transparency in the investigation.
