Osun State University Refutes Ghost Worker Allegations

Osun State University has officially dismissed allegations of having 250 ghost workers within its system, asserting the integrity of its personnel records. In a statement issued by the university's public relations office, Mr.

Adenrel Adewumi, the director of internal audit, stated that the claims were unfounded and misleading. A comprehensive personnel and financial audit conducted by external auditors in January 2023 reviewed the status of 58 staff members and confirmed their legitimacy.

The university's payroll management system requires all staff, regardless of rank or category, to sign a salary checker monthly, making it difficult for ghost workers to be inserted into the payroll. The audit also included a review of 258 staff members, which comprised several current and former staff, including notable figures such as the current ASUU chairman and former NASU chairman.

Professor Odunayo Clement Adebooy, the vice chancellor, expressed shock at the ghost worker allegations, describing them as a witch hunt and indicating potential legal action against the consulting firm responsible for the claims.
