Prominent Lawyer Professor Alfred Kasunmu Dies at 92

Professor Alfred Bandele Kasunmu, SAN, a distinguished lawyer and scholar, died peacefully at the age of 92 in the early hours of Sunday, August 9, 2026. His death was announced by Olumide Ajomale, the Global President of the Baptist Academy Old Students Association (BAOSA), on behalf of the association’s National Executive Council.

Kasunmu, a member of the Baptist Academy Class of 1953 and a trustee of BAOSA, was described as “a towering figure in law, scholarship, and national development.” The association highlighted his values of integrity, discipline, and service, noting that he was a cherished patriarch to his family. In recognition of his contributions, BAOSA honored him with the BAOSA Order of Excellence Award during its 170th Founders Day celebration last year.

The association expressed that his legacy of wisdom and mentorship would continue to inspire future generations. BAOSA urged its members to keep Kasunmu’s family in their prayers during this mourning period, with funeral arrangements to be announced later.
