Ondo Protests Erupt Over APC National Assembly Candidates List

Protests occurred in Ondo State against the All Progressives Congress (APC) over the release of the National Assembly candidates' list, which protesters claimed did not accurately reflect the results of the party's primary elections across the state's 203 wards. Demonstrators, including women and youth members, disrupted vehicular movement along the Ilesha-Owo expressway, carrying placards with messages demanding justice and the restoration of authentic candidates.

Seun Osamay, representing the women’s wing of the APC, described the list as fake and emphasized that it did not reflect the people's mandate. She expressed confidence that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu would ensure justice.

Princess Oluwayemisi Iji Ayeola, the Ondo State APC women leader, criticized the list as a slap in the face of the party and called for transparency in the selection process. The situation escalated when Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu's convoy was temporarily halted by the protest, highlighting the tensions within the party regarding candidate selection.
