Ondo APC Women and Youth Protest Altered Primary Results

Women and youth members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State staged a peaceful protest on Monday in Akure, blocking the governor's convoy to express their discontent over alleged alterations to primary election results. They rejected a revised list of candidates, describing it as fake and not representative of the outcomes from the direct primaries held across the state's 203 wards.

Seun Osamay, the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, stated that the circulated list did not reflect the people's mandate. The protesters carried placards with messages demanding that votes be counted and appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for intervention.

Youth leader Bright Ojo characterized the revised list as a democratic coup against APC members in Ondo State. The protest followed recent changes approved by the APC National Working Committee, which affected several candidates for the Senate and House of Representatives, leading to growing discontent among party members regarding the integrity of the primary election process.
