Protests Erupt in Ondo, Kwara Over APC Candidate Uploads

Protests have emerged in Ondo and Kwara states as the All Progressives Congress (APC) began uploading details of its governorship candidates to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) portal, with the process expected to conclude by August 8. The party is uploading data for 28 governorship candidates and 993 State House of Assembly candidates.

Complaints have surfaced regarding the substitution of candidates, particularly in Ondo State, where five of the 26 House of Assembly candidates are reportedly being replaced. A significant case involves Olugbenga Omole, who won the primary election for Akoko South-West Constituency I, but his name is allegedly being substituted with Raymond Daodu.

This has led to protests from party leaders and stakeholders who claim this undermines the will of party members. The APC's national leadership has established a vetting committee to address complaints and verify nomination forms before finalizing the list of candidates.
