Abia State Urges JUSUN to Prove Leave Bonus Claims

The Abia State Government has instructed the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) to provide proof of unpaid leave bonuses to enable payment within 48 hours. Attorney General Ikechukwu Uwanna, during a briefing in Umuahia, clarified that the state had consolidated salaries for judicial workers, which included components referred to as leave bonuses.

JUSUN has been on strike since March 15, demanding payment for leave allowances, which they claim have not been included in their salaries. Uwanna noted that the government discovered that the leave bonus was part of the consolidated salary and requested JUSUN to provide evidence of non-payment.

He assured that once the necessary documentation is submitted, payments would be processed promptly. The Attorney General also addressed the need for judicial staff to submit required documents to facilitate pension payments, urging JUSUN to reconsider its strike position to avoid further delays in pension disbursements.
