PSC Dismisses Four Senior Officers, Sanctions 31 Others

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has dismissed four senior police officers due to gross misconduct and unprofessional conduct. This decision was made during a plenary meeting held at the PSC headquarters in Abuja.

The dismissed officers were found culpable of actions unbecoming of public officials. Additionally, the PSC approved disciplinary measures affecting 31 other officers, including rank reductions for ten senior officers: three Superintendents of Police were reduced to Deputy Superintendents, two Deputy Superintendents to Assistant Superintendents, and five Assistant Superintendents to Inspectors.

Other sanctions included compulsory retirement for two officers in the public interest, severe reprimands for ten officers, warning letters for five, and advisory letters for three. The PSC's spokesperson, Chairman Dig Hashimu Argungu (retd), emphasized the board's zero-tolerance stance on indiscipline within the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) and reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining discipline and accountability.
