PTAD Settles ₦32,000 Arrears for 54,206 Pensioners

The Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD) announced the completion of payments of ₦32,000 arrears to 54,206 pensioners, amounting to a total of ₦1,734,592,000. This payment marks the full settlement of outstanding arrears related to a pension increment approved by the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission (NSIWC), which took effect on July 29, 2024.

The arrears cover a 13-month period from August 2024 to August 2025, following a previous payment phase that settled 12 months. The payments were executed across two departments: the Pension Department (PAPD), which disbursed ₦825,728,000 to 25,804 pensioners, and the Tertiary Education Health Pension Department (TEHPD), which paid ₦908,864,000 to 28,402 pensioners.

PTAD clarified that the arrears include pensions from certain defunct agencies, and the increment is based on a percentage increase of 10.66% to 12.95%, exempting the ₦32,000 increment as per the NSIWC circular. The agency reiterated its commitment to pension welfare and timely payments.
