PDP and APC Clash Over PVC Allegations in Ebonyi State

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ebonyi State have engaged in a war of words over allegations of Permanent Voter Card (PVC) buying and political intimidation as the 2027 general elections approach. APC State Chairman Chief Stanley Okoro-Emegha alleged that opposition members were buying PVCs from elderly voters, stating that some individuals had been arrested for this activity in Abakaliki.

He questioned the ethics of such practices and urged the police to return any seized PVCs to their owners. In response, the PDP, through its State Publicity Secretary Prince Darlington Peter Onwe, rejected the allegations, claiming they were part of a scheme by the APC-led government to harass and arrest PDP members.

The PDP asserted its commitment to lawful conduct and warned against the misuse of security agencies. Additionally, the PDP reported attacks on its supporters and journalists during a party event, raising its internal security alert and pledging to pursue legal channels if its members faced arrest.
