PDP and APC Clash Over PVC Allegations in Ebonyi State

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ebonyi State have engaged in a war of words over allegations of Permanent Voter Card (PVC) buying and political intimidation ahead of the 2027 general elections. APC State Chairman Chief Stanley Okoro-Emegha alleged that opposition members were buying PVCs from elderly voters, claiming that some individuals had been arrested for this activity in Abakaliki.

He questioned the ethics of such practices and urged the police to return any seized PVCs to their owners. In response, the PDP, through its State Publicity Secretary Prince Darlington Peter Onwe, rejected these allegations, asserting that they had credible intelligence of a plan by the APC-led government to fabricate PVC-related charges to harass its members.

The PDP described this as part of a broader strategy to suppress opposition and emphasized its commitment to lawful conduct. The party also raised concerns about attacks on its members and journalists by suspected political thugs, increasing its internal security alert.
