INEC Launches Mega Voter Registration in Plateau State

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has inaugurated a mega voter registration center located at Secretariat Junction in Jos, Plateau State, which will operate from March 25 to March 30, 2026, from 9 AM to 3 PM daily. This initiative is part of efforts to tackle challenges encountered during the first phase of continuous voter registration (CVR), such as long distances to registration areas, large crowds, insecurity, and difficult terrain.

Abubakar Sadiq, the Resident Electoral Commissioner, highlighted these challenges and noted that the commission has approved a rotational voter registration across 207 registration areas in 17 local government areas of Plateau State. The second phase of CVR will commence on February 2, 2026, and conclude on April 10, 2026.

Additionally, the mega CVR exercise is scheduled to take place in six geopolitical zones across Nigeria, with Plateau State being one of the selected areas.
