Sokoto Declares Work-Free Day for PVC Registration

Governor Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto State announced a work-free day on Friday to enable eligible civil servants to register for their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) in preparation for the 2027 general elections. The announcement was made through a statement by Abubakar Bawa, the Director General of Media and Publicity at the Government House Sokoto.

Governor Aliyu urged civil servants who have not yet registered to utilize this day to complete their registration and obtain their PVCs, emphasizing the importance of participating in national assignments and exercising civic rights. Additionally, he appealed to the general public, including newly eligible voters, to take advantage of a two-week extension for the voter registration exercise, which is set to conclude on Sunday, July 26, 2026.

This initiative reflects the governor's commitment to enhancing voter participation in the upcoming elections.
