Abuja HQ Renamed After Ex-President Segun Ajanlekoko

The Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors held a ceremony on Monday to rename its Abuja headquarters in honor of former president Segun Ajanlekoko, acknowledging his significant contributions to the profession. During the event, Ajanlekoko emphasized the importance of the development reflecting the growth of the profession since its establishment in 1969.

He highlighted the need for quantity surveyors to address recurring building collapse issues, clarifying that such incidents are often due to poor contractor selection rather than the profession itself. The institute's current president, Aminu Bashir, announced the renaming decision, which was approved by the National Executive Council.

Additionally, the event featured the commissioning of a 100kVA solar power project, part of efforts to adopt renewable energy, reduce energy costs, and lower carbon footprints. The project, valued in the multi-million naira range, was successfully completed, demonstrating the institute's commitment to sustainable energy solutions.
