Katsina Governor Radda Presents N828.6bn 2027 Budget

On August 28, 2026, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, the Governor of Katsina State, presented a proposed budget of N828.64 billion for the year 2027 to the Katsina State House of Assembly. This budget represents a reduction of N69.23 billion, or 7.71%, from the approved 2026 budget.

The budget, titled “Building Your Future IV,” allocates N637.91 billion (76.98%) to capital expenditure and N190.73 billion (23.02%) to recurrent expenditure. Radda explained that the reduction was due to a realistic assessment of expected revenue and expenditure, emphasizing the need for fiscal balance and minimizing revenue shortfalls.

The budget was informed by a Citizens’ Budget Exercise conducted on July 18, 2026, across all 361 wards, ensuring that each ward receives a special project chosen by its residents. Key allocations include N317.73 billion for the social sector, N303.17 billion for the economic sector, and N198.55 billion for the administrative sector.

Radda also discussed the performance of the 2026 budget, noting challenges in various sectors, including security and infrastructure.
