Raducanu Loses to Ruzic in Dubai Tennis Championship

In the first round of the Dubai Tennis Championship, British number one Emma Raducanu faced a surprising defeat against Croatian player Antonia Ruzic, who is ranked 67th in the world. The match concluded with Ruzic winning 6-1, 5-7, 6-2.

Ruzic entered the main draw as a lucky loser after several players withdrew due to injuries and illness. She described the situation as a "crazy turnaround" with little preparation time, marking her first career win against a top 30 player.

Raducanu initially faced Ruzic after her original opponent, Elisabetta Cocciaretto, withdrew due to a thigh problem. Ruzic won the first set in just 30 minutes, having broken Raducanu twice.

Despite falling behind 5-3 in the second set, Raducanu fought back to win the set, but Ruzic ultimately clinched victory by winning the next six games in the deciding set.
