Raheem Sterling Charged with Dangerous Driving, Court Date Set

Raheem Sterling, a 31-year-old former England winger, will appear at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court on September 15, 2026, after being charged with dangerous driving, possession of nitrous oxide for wrongful inhalation, and failing to provide a specimen. The charges stem from a single-vehicle collision involving his Lamborghini on the M3 southbound near the Minley Interchange on May 28, 2026.

According to a spokesperson from the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary, no other vehicles were involved, and no injuries were reported. Sterling was arrested following the incident but was released on bail pending further inquiries.

Initially, police investigated the possibility of him driving while unfit through drugs, but that allegation is not included in the current charges. Sterling, who is currently without a club, most recently played for Dutch side Feyenoord after leaving Chelsea, where he had fallen out of favor.
