Tinubu Celebrates Hausa Day, Praises Cultural Unity

On August 26, President Bola Tinubu recognized the Hausa people as "great pillars" of Nigeria's unity in a message shared on his X handle to commemorate Hausa Day, celebrated at the historic Daura Palace. Tinubu highlighted the flourishing Hausa language, noting its importance as a major language of unity and commerce worldwide.

He congratulated the Hausa community on this occasion, which began as a social media initiative by Nigerian journalist Abdulbaki Aliyu Jari aimed at promoting the Hausa language and raising cultural awareness. Although Hausa Day has expanded into international celebrations across various continents, it has not yet received formal recognition from the United Nations.

The Hausa language is one of the most widely spoken languages in Nigeria and ranks among the top languages globally by the number of speakers.
