Real Madrid's Raul Asencio Faces Disciplinary Action

Real Madrid has opened disciplinary proceedings against defender Raul Asencio, who was convicted of drink-driving on August 16. The 23-year-old centre-back was found to be more than three times over the legal limit during the incident in San Bartolome de Tirajana, Gran Canaria.

He was fined 14,400 euros ($16,700) and had his driving licence suspended for eight months. Asencio is also due to face another court case this week in Gran Canaria concerning the alleged non-consensual sharing of a sexual video from 2023.

Real Madrid's coach, Jose Mourinho, expressed disappointment over Asencio's actions, emphasizing that a Real Madrid player represents the club at all times. Asencio, who has been injured since July and has not been selected for a matchday squad, played regularly for Real Madrid in the previous two seasons.

The trial for the video-sharing case is scheduled for September 3, 4, and 7.
