NSA Warns of Potential Isolated Attacks by Insurgents

The Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) issued a security advisory on August 27, warning that recent military successes against insurgents in northern Nigeria could lead to isolated attacks intended to create fear and attract public attention. The advisory, released in Abuja, emphasized the need for Nigerians to remain vigilant and security-conscious due to evolving threats.

It noted that sustained military operations in the North-East, North-West, and North-Central regions had resulted in the neutralization of several terrorist and bandit commanders, including Abubakar Al-Mainok, and the disruption of criminal camps and strongholds. The ONSA urged the public to maintain heightened alertness, report unusual activities, and cooperate with security agencies.

It also called on state and local governments to enhance community vigilance and ensure timely information sharing with security forces. The advisory reassured the international community of the Nigerian government's commitment to maintaining a safe environment for its citizens.
