Red Cross Donates 700 Cartons of Food to Sokoto State

On Friday, August 28, 2026, the Nigerian Red Cross Society (NRCS), Sokoto Branch, handed over 700 cartons of Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Food (RUTF) to the Sokoto State Government. This initiative aims to address malnutrition among vulnerable children aged six to 59 months in the state.

The donation was made possible through the support of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) under the Malnutrition Emergency Appeal Programme (MEAP). The RUTF will be distributed across Sokoto North, Sokoto South, and Wamakko Local Government Areas.

A representative from the Sokoto State Primary Health Care Development Agency (SSPHCDA) received the items and expressed gratitude for the timely support, emphasizing its importance in complementing the state government's efforts to combat malnutrition. The Red Cross reaffirmed its commitment to collaborating with the Sokoto State Government and other stakeholders to enhance the management of malnutrition and ensure vulnerable children have access to essential nutritional and healthcare services.
