POWA President Urges Youths to Reject Violence and Thuggery

Chief Mrs. Mutiat Olufunmilola Disu, the National President of the Police Officers’ Wives Association (POWA), warned Nigerian youths against being manipulated by politicians into violence during her address at the 2026 International Youth Day programme organized by the Nigeria Police Force. The event took place from August 20 to 22 and focused on youth leadership, responsible citizenship, and peaceful democratic participation.

Disu emphasized that no political ambition is worth sacrificing their future and urged young Nigerians to reject political thuggery, cultism, cybercrime, and hate campaigns. She encouraged them to invest their energy in education, entrepreneurship, and innovation, and to verify information before sharing it on social media to combat misinformation.

Disu called for a new generation of leaders who prioritize purpose, service, and truth over violence and misinformation, stressing the importance of peaceful coexistence despite differing political opinions.
