Relative of Timipre Sylva Among Those Detained Over Alleged Coup Plot

A relative of former Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Timipre Sylva, named Noel Goddai Zuzu, has been detained by the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA) for his alleged involvement in a coup plot against Tinubu. Zuzu, a squadron leader in the Nigerian Air Force, is among the 36 detainees arrested on October 4, 2025, at the NAF Camp in Abuja.

The detainees comprise various military ranks, including an army brigadier general, colonels, majors, and other lower-ranking officers. Additionally, a police inspector, Ahm Ibrahim, is also among those detained.

Zuzu, who hails from Bayelsa State and is a graduate of the Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Agudama, is reported to have connections to the military. The arrests were part of an operation by the DIA to thwart the alleged coup d'état.
