Fashola Advocates Religious Unity at Lagos Lecture

Babatunde Fashola (SAN), the former Governor of Lagos State, called for greater religious tolerance in Nigeria during the annual “God in My Life” lecture organized by the Torchbearer Society of the Archbishop Vining Memorial Church Cathedral (AVMCC) in Ikeja GRA, Lagos. Speaking on Sunday, Fashola, a Muslim, emphasized that religion should unite rather than divide people, advocating for mutual respect among individuals of different faiths.

He described God as the ultimate architect of the universe and highlighted the importance of recognizing divine influence in everyday life. Fashola shared personal reflections on his upbringing in the Anglican Church and recounted near-death experiences that he attributed to divine providence.

Olusola Odedeji, the Chief Host and Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Lagos West, praised Fashola as a role model for youth, while Chief Olusegun Osunkeye commended his public service contributions. The event aimed to inspire attendees through shared experiences related to faith and leadership.
