Visiola Foundation Hosts STEM Camp for 100 Girls in Abuja

The Visiola Foundation successfully concluded its 2026 Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Summer Camp for 100 teen girls in Abuja, which took place from August 8 to 15, 2026. The camp, themed “Powering the Future: Girls Leading Africa’s Renewable Energy Revolution,” focused on renewable energy innovation and involved participants from 45 junior and senior government secondary schools.

Over eight days, girls aged 13 to 17 engaged in a project-based curriculum covering electricity fundamentals, solar and wind energy systems, smart technologies, and engineering design. Teams identified real-world energy challenges and developed functional prototypes, with group eight winning for their SmartFarm automated farming system.

Ladé Araba, President of the Visiola Foundation, emphasized the importance of experiential learning in public schools. Kenny Anuwe, CEO of FGN Power Company, served as the chief judge, praising the participants' engineering skills and the need to invest in the next generation of engineers to address Africa’s energy challenges.
