Chimaobi Atu Defends APC Defection, Presents Scorecard

Chimaobi Atu, representing the Enugu North South Federal Constituency, defended his defection from the Labour Party to the All Progressives Congress (APC), stating that the move was driven by the need to attract development and deliver democratic dividends to his constituents. Speaking to Enugu residents, Atu presented his three-year scorecard, which included various projects and legislative interventions since he assumed office in June 2023.

He explained that his decision to leave the Labour Party was influenced by the party's challenges and litigation issues, emphasizing that politics should serve the people rather than be an end in itself. Atu praised President Bola Tinubu for establishing a South East Development Commission and highlighted ongoing federal road projects in the region, including the reconstruction of sections of the Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway.

He also commended Governor Peter Mbah for investing in education and infrastructure. Atu sponsored 17 bills and various motions in the House of Representatives, focusing on security and local participation to tackle insecurity, especially in rural areas.
