Abia APC Denies 7,000 Member Defection to Labour Party

The Abia State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has refuted claims that 7,000 of its members defected to the Labour Party (LP). The party described the assertion as exaggerated and politically insignificant.

This response followed a statement from former National Executive Committee member Uduka Anyanwu, who announced the defection during a visit to the Labour Party's state executive committee, led by state chairman Peter Azubuik in Umuahia. APC spokesperson Uch Aguoru issued a press statement asserting that the reported figure was inaccurate and that Anyanwu's departure would not diminish the party's political prospects.

Aguoru criticized Anyanwu's previous role within the APC, alleging that he had undermined the party's performance during past elections. The APC leadership emphasized its commitment to rebuilding and expanding political support in the state, maintaining confidence that the reported defections would not significantly impact their future electoral plans.
