House of Reps Announces New Committee Chairpersons

The House of Representatives, led by Speaker Abba Tajudeen, announced a reshuffle of committee leadership during an emergency plenary session on Monday. This adjustment was deemed necessary due to several lawmakers being elevated to new positions within the minority leadership structure, creating vacancies.

Aliyu Madaki was appointed as the new chairman of the House Committee on Special Duties, succeeding Fred Agbedi, who became the new minority leader. Ali Isa was appointed as the chairman of the House Committee on the Shippers Council, replacing Abdulsamad Dasuki, who was elevated to deputy minority leader.

Pascal Agbodik was appointed as chairman of the House Committee on Small and Medium Enterprises, succeeding Mansur Soro. Kelechi Nwogu was named the new chairman of the House Committee on Hydrological Services, taking over from Agbodik.

Meanwhile, political developments included Abubakar Moham from the Funtua/Dandume Federal Constituency in Katsina State formally defecting from the All Progressives Congress to the People's Democratic Party, effective May 8.
