Senate Appoints Ibrahim Dankwambo as PAC Chairman

The Nigerian Senate has appointed Ibrahim Dankwambo as the new Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC), succeeding Aliyu Wadada, who defected from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC). This announcement was confirmed during a plenary session and was made public by the Senate's spokesman, Malam Farouk Yarma.

The appointment aligns with the Senate's tradition of appointing members from opposition parties to head the PAC, which plays a critical role in scrutinizing government expenditures and audit reports. Dankwambo, a former governor of Gombe State and an expert in public finance, is expected to strengthen the accountability mechanisms within the National Assembly.

Yarma emphasized that this strategic move aims to enhance the Senate's oversight responsibilities and promote transparency and responsible governance, thereby sustaining public trust in democratic institutions.
