Obidient Movement Urges INEC to Ensure Election Integrity

The Obidient Movement has issued a warning to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) regarding the upcoming 2027 elections, emphasizing the necessity to respect the electorate's mandate. In a statement released on Tuesday, the movement expressed concern over INEC's proposal to utilize Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the electoral process, labeling it a potential pathway to rigging.

The movement stated that if INEC proceeds with plans perceived as manipulative, Nigerians would not seek recourse through what they termed 'President Bola Tinubu’s judiciary' to reclaim their mandates. They demanded that INEC publish a comprehensive plan for the 2027 elections, detailing the technologies, procedures, and safeguards to be employed.

The statement underscored the belief that the Nigerian judiciary has lost its effectiveness, placing the responsibility on INEC to ensure the integrity of the electoral process. The movement urged INEC chairman Professor Joash Amupitan to reconsider the proposed plans before it is too late.
