Rhodes-Vivour Announces 2027 Lagos Governorship Bid

Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, a former Lagos governorship candidate, has officially declared his ambition to contest the 2027 Lagos State governorship election. This announcement follows his recent defection from the Labour Party to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

In an interview, Rhodes-Vivour criticized the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for its governance and alleged financial mismanagement within the Lagos State House of Assembly. He emphasized the need for opposition parties to unite amid internal crises within the Labour Party, which he believes hindered electoral gains in the 2023 elections.

Rhodes-Vivour also expressed concerns over the demolition exercises in Lagos, citing a lack of housing policies for low-income residents, particularly in communities like Makoko and Ilasan. He plans to focus his campaign strategy on grassroots engagement, aiming to build direct relationships with residents to alleviate fears regarding political change in Lagos.
