Rivers State Government Denies Debt to Nigerian Legion

The Rivers State Government has officially denied allegations of being indebted to the Nigerian Legion, Rivers State Chapter, regarding donations or financial pledges. In a statement released on Sunday and signed by Juliana Masi, the Head of the Information and Public Relations Unit in the Office of the Secretary to the State Government, it was clarified that there are no outstanding financial obligations to the organization.

Governor Siminalayi Fubara has reportedly fulfilled the pledge made during the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance and Celebration. The government described this action as a demonstration of its commitment to the welfare of ex-servicemen, veterans, widows, and families of fallen heroes.

The statement urged the public to disregard any claims of indebtedness and reassured that the state government would continue to support the Nigerian Legion and initiatives aimed at enhancing the dignity and welfare of veterans and their families. The government also expressed appreciation for the sacrifices made by veterans and fallen heroes.
