Rivers State Government Denies Debt to Nigerian Legion

The Rivers State Government has officially denied claims of owing the Nigerian Legion, Rivers State Chapter, any outstanding financial commitments. This statement was made by Juliana Masi, Head of the Information and Public Relations Unit at the Office of the Secretary to the State Government, in Port Harcourt on Sunday.

Masi emphasized that Governor Siminalayi Fubara's administration has consistently supported the Nigerian Legion and is committed to the welfare of veterans, ex-servicemen, and the families of fallen military personnel. She stated that the governor has fully redeemed the pledge made during the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance and Celebration.

The government urged the public to disregard any reports suggesting it owes money to the Nigerian Legion from past donations or pledges. Furthermore, it reaffirmed its intention to continue supporting the Legion and initiatives aimed at enhancing the welfare and dignity of veterans and their families, acknowledging the sacrifices made by fallen heroes.
