Rivers State Unveils 105-Bed Hospital in Omoku

The Rivers State Government, led by Governor Siminalayi Fubara, has inaugurated a 105-bed secondary healthcare facility known as the Omoku Zonal Hospital in Omoku, Rivers State. This initiative aims to improve access to quality healthcare for residents in the oil-producing region and surrounding communities.

Governor Fubara highlighted the significance of the facility due to Omoku's status as an oil and gas hub and urged local residents, community leaders, traditional rulers, and youths to safeguard the hospital's infrastructure against vandalism and theft. The facility was commissioned by the Oba of Ogbaland, Dr Nwachukwu Nnam Obuoha Obi III, who praised the state government for completing the project.

Dr Vincent Wachukwu, the Permanent Secretary of the Rivers State Ministry of Health, described the hospital as a secondary healthcare facility and referral center for the Orashi region, featuring outpatient clinics, laboratories, operating theatres, intensive care units, and more. He stated that the facility would enhance healthcare delivery and improve maternal, newborn, and child health outcomes in the area.
