RMD Calls for Positive Change in Nigeria's Image at Conference

At the 2026 Pivot Nigeria Conference held in Lagos, veteran actor and filmmaker Richard Mofe-Damijo (RMD) addressed the issue of Nigeria's global reputation and the social and economic costs of negative perceptions. He emphasized that Nigeria's age, marking 66 years of independence, should not serve as an excuse for poor governance and institutional failures.

Mofe-Damijo argued that while building a prosperous nation requires time and effort, citizens must remain patient and committed to nation-building. He criticized the tendency of Nigerians to quickly condemn their country, advocating for a reframing of perspectives to acknowledge problems while also focusing on solutions.

He stated, “There are problems, yes, but what do we do with the problems? Let us fix them,” urging citizens to move beyond mere criticism and contribute practical ideas to address national challenges.
