Rubio Ensures U.S. Will Prevent Ebola Infections

On Wednesday, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that the United States will not allow any cases of Ebola to enter the country.

This declaration was made during a cabinet meeting convened by President Donald Trump at the White House. Rubio emphasized that the State Department and related agencies are actively working to contain the Ebola crisis, which is currently centered in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

The Trump administration is also coordinating with Kenyan authorities to set up treatment facilities for American citizens who may have been exposed to the Ebola virus. These facilities are designed to provide high-quality care without the risks associated with lengthy transport back to the U.S.

A U.S. citizen, Peter Stafford, who contracted Ebola in eastern DRC, is currently in isolation in Germany. As of now, Kenya has not reported any Ebola infections, but health officials are scrambling to control the outbreak, which has resulted in 1,000 suspected infections and 223 deaths according to the World Health Organization.
