Meli Kerr Appointed New Zealand White Ferns Captain

Meli Kerr has been named the new captain of the New Zealand White Ferns, succeeding Sophi Devine, who led the team since 2020. At 25 years old, Kerr expressed that it is a "massive privilege" to captain her country, emphasizing the importance of leadership and commitment.

She will lead the team for the first time in a home ODI and T20I series against Zimbabwe, beginning on February 25, 2024. Kerr has represented New Zealand in 172 international matches and made her debut at the age of 16 in 2016.

Throughout her career, she has scored 3,757 runs and taken 201 wickets across all formats. During the recent T20 World Cup campaign in the United Arab Emirates, she scored 134 runs and took 15 wickets.

New Zealand head coach Ben Sawyer believes that Kerr's leadership will elevate the team's performance and is confident she is ready to guide the White Ferns forward.
