Masai Russell Eyes Tobi Amusan's 100m Hurdles Record

Masai Russell, competing at the Xiamen Diamond League, recorded a time of 12.14 seconds in the women's 100m hurdles, marking the second fastest time in history and setting a new United States record. This performance places her just 0.02 seconds behind Tobi Amusan's world record of 12.12 seconds, established at the 2022 World Athletics Championship in Eugene.

Russell finished comfortably ahead of Amusan, who placed second with a season's best time of 12.28 seconds. Devynn Charlton from the Bahamas secured third place with a new national record of 12.37 seconds, while Jamaica's Megan Simmonds finished fourth in 12.52 seconds.

Following the race, Russell expressed her determination to break Amusan's global mark, stating that her hard work is paying off and that she feels focused and consistent this season. She emphasized her belief in her potential to achieve even faster times as the championship season progresses.
