Haeran Ryu Claims First Major Title at Women’s PGA Championship

Haeran Ryu, a 25-year-old golfer from South Korea, achieved her first major victory at the Women’s PGA Championship held at Hazeltine National Golf Club in Chaska, Minnesota. Ryu started the final round with a one-shot lead but faced challenges, including three bogeys in the first five holes.

However, she made a remarkable comeback, scoring five birdies and finishing the round with two pars, concluding with a total score of 13 under par. This victory marks a significant milestone in her career, with the tournament purse set at $13 million, the largest in women’s golf history.

Ryu expressed her happiness, stating, "I’m so happy right now," and described the win as a dream come true. Other competitors included Brook Henderson and Dewi Weber, who held the lead after weather delays, and Nelly Korda, who was aiming for her third consecutive major championship win but finished four shots off the lead.
