Onuachu Reflects on Nigeria's World Cup Miss and Future

Paul Onuachu, a striker for Trabzonspor, expressed his sadness regarding Nigeria's failure to qualify for the 2026 World Cup. In an interview with NFF TV, he stated that despite the disappointment, the Super Eagles possess players of high quality capable of competing globally.

Onuachu acknowledged the pain of missing the tournament but urged the team to move forward. He is preparing for Nigeria's friendly matches against Poland and Portugal during the international window.

Onuachu, who had a challenging spell at Southampton with only four goals in 36 appearances, has rediscovered his form at Trabzonspor, scoring 15 goals in 21 league matches since joining on loan in 2023. He has since made a permanent move to the club, which runs until the end of the 2025-26 Turkish Süper Lig season, and is currently a joint top scorer with 22 goals in 30 appearances.
