Sahara Group Foundation Launches Recycling Hubs in Nigeria

Sahara Group Foundation has inaugurated two recycling hubs in Kaduna and Jigawa states, marking the 21st and 22nd hubs established nationwide. The Jigawa hub is located in Gidan Hakimi, Shuwarin Local Government Area, while the Kaduna hub is situated at Asharami Retail Station in Badiko, Kaduna South Local Government Area.

These initiatives are designed to address long-standing waste management challenges in the communities, providing job opportunities for youth and women. Chidilim Menakaya, Director of Sahara Group Foundation, emphasized the importance of community ownership in building a sustainable recycling ecosystem.

The commissioning ceremony was attended by notable figures, including Dr. Nura Doka, Chairman of Shuwarin Local Government Area, and community leaders.

The foundation also announced plans to establish a recycling hub in Kano State following discussions with Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II, aiming to support the recycling of 1,000 tons of materials and impact 2,000 livelihoods nationwide.
