Carlos Sainz Extends Contract with Williams Until 2027

Carlos Sainz has signed a new multi-year contract with Williams, ensuring his presence with the team until 2027 and beyond. The 31-year-old Spaniard joined Williams in 2025, aiming to help the team regain its competitive edge in Formula One after a long period of underperformance.

His previous contract was set to expire at the end of the current season. Sainz expressed his belief in the team's potential and commitment to turning their fortunes around, stating, “I’m as committed as I was on day one to helping get Williams back to where it belongs.” Despite the team's recent struggles, including a ninth-place standing at the halfway point of the 2026 season, team principal James Vowles praised Sainz’s talent and leadership, emphasizing his valuable contributions both on and off the track.

Sainz had previously chosen Williams over an opportunity with Audi, which debuted in 2023 after acquiring the Swiss Sauber outfit.
