Samsung to Shut Down AR Apps by December 2026

Samsung has announced the shutdown of two augmented reality applications, AR Doodle and Quick Measure, effective December 31, 2026. Notices in the Galaxy App Store confirm that after this date, users will not be able to download these applications, and they will not receive support for future releases of Samsung's One UI operating system.

AR Doodle allows users to create virtual images using their phone cameras, while Quick Measure estimates the size of physical objects using augmented reality. Both applications are already unavailable or unsupported on certain newer Galaxy devices, including the Galaxy Z Fold 8.

Samsung advises users to download the apps before the shutdown date, as they will be removed from the Galaxy App Store entirely. This decision reflects a broader industry trend where smartphone manufacturers, including Samsung, are reallocating resources towards artificial intelligence features, moving away from technologies that were once key selling points.
